PRIVACY POLICY (DRAFT)
Doorway is an educational app. It shows short videos made by licensed clinicians, lets you follow lessons and earn a badge, lists public gatherings, and lets you search a public directory of clinicians. It is not treatment and it is not an emergency service. This policy says what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What the app collects when you use it signed in
- Your account: the email address and name your sign-in provider gives us, and the country you choose at sign-up. We use them to create your account and to show the right crisis lines for your country.
- Your interests: the topics you pick on the Profile tab. We use them to order your feed.
- What you watch: which lessons you opened, how much of each you watched, and which you finished, so your lessons and badges can be counted. These records are linked to your account.
- Gatherings you book, and the answers you give when booking.
- Help button events: when you tap the Help button while signed in, the app records that you opened crisis resources and which kind of button you pressed. It does not record what you did next, whether you called anyone, or how long a call lasted. The crisis phone numbers are stored on your phone and work without an account and without a connection.
What the app collects when you are not signed in
Nothing is sent about you. Searching the clinician directory sends your search words and filters with no account details. The Help button works without an account; without one, nothing is recorded.
What the app does not collect
No contacts, calendar, photos, files, microphone or camera. No precise location; your country comes from what you chose at sign-up. No advertising identifier, and no advertising or analytics company's software is in the app. No health data from Apple Health or Health Connect.
Video playback and app updates
Videos are streamed from Mux, the video service we use. Like any streaming service, Mux sees your device's internet address while a video plays. It does not receive your account. The app also checks for updates with Expo, the service that delivers them, which sees your device's internet address and app version when it does.
Booking a clinician
Find a clinician is a public directory. When you tap Book, the app sends the clinician's name (not yours) to our server and opens that clinician's own booking page in your browser. What you enter there is covered by that clinician's privacy policy, not this one.
Who sees your data
Your data is stored by us and used only to run the app. We do not sell it and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with the services that run the app for us (video streaming, hosting and sign-in), and when the law requires it.
Keeping your data safe
Your sign-in is stored only on your phone, in the phone's own secure storage, and is cleared when you sign out. Every connection to our servers is encrypted.
Deleting your account
On the Profile tab, Settings, tap “Delete my account”. Your account is closed immediately and you are signed out. Your data is removed after 14 days. Signing back in within those 14 days keeps the account. The badge records that were written to a public ledger contain no personal data and stay there.
You can also ask for deletion without the app by writing to the contact above.
Children
The app is rated for adults and is not meant for children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to the contact above and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the app shows the new version the next time it opens, and you will be asked to acknowledge it before continuing.
